Harmony Forge itself offers a number of activities in which you can partake without leaving the property.  We are located adjacent to Spring Creek, which means that you can enjoy fishing, kayaking, or canoeing.  Spring Creek is a Class A wild trout stream that offers excellent fishing, only steps from our front door.

 

Centre County offers a wide variety of activities, enough to fulfill any taste.  If you are visiting the area, here are some brief highlights.

 

We are located just minutes from Historic Victorican Bellefonte, which offers a wide variety of interesting shops, boutiques, and interesting landmarks.  Bellefonte also has a number of dining options for your enjoyment

 

We are only 15 minutes away from State College and Penn State University, which offers many dining options and other activities.  Downtown State College offers a wide variety of shopping and entertainment.  If you are holding an event and expecting out of town guests, State College also offers a large number of hotels capable of lodging your guests.  And of course, Penn State University has many entertainment options, from the fine arts to popular athletic teams.  A fall football Saturday in Happy Valley is not to be missed. 

 

For those who love the outdoors, there are plenty of options.  The property is located directly adjacent to Spring Creek, which offers wonderful fishing.  We are also only minutes from the legendary Fishermans Paradise fly fishing area. 

 

There are two state parks within close proximity:  Bald Eagle State Park and Black Moshannon State Park.  Both offer many amenities such as boating, swimming, picnic areas, wildlife trails, hiking, biking, fishing and hunting.  In winter months, both parks offer cross country skiiing, ice skating, and ice fishing.  Snowmobiling is allowed at Black Moshannon, and Bald Eagle has a great sledding hill.

 

Happy Valley is also home to a number of wineries and microbreweries.  Wine lovers can visit Mount Nittany Winery, Seven Mountains Wine Cellars, Happy Valley Vineyard and Winery, and a number of others in the area.  Craft beer enthusiasts can choose from some great local microbreweries: Happy Valley Brewery, Otto's Pub and Brewery, The Gamble Mill Restaurant and Microbrewery, Robin Hood Brewing Company, and Elk Creek Cafe and Aleworks, and more keep popping up!  Enjoy a wine trail or pub crawl (with a proper designated driver of course).
